Kelly Haramis is from Chicago, and like a true midwesterner… she knows way too much about corn. It’s true! My family is from Chicago, I was raised in a small town in Indiana(30 min from where Orville Redenbacher made his popcorn), and the nearest theme park to me had the slogan “There’s More Than Corn in Indiana!” So! I was very intrigued when I read the title and knew I wanted to check it out.
Speaking of Corn jokes--if you haven’t guessed it--yes! This show has a lot of them. It also contains many interesting facts about corn (I was very impressed) that one would discover with an allergy to corn. Kelly shares her story of letting go of her one true love that is popcorn with a hot microwave full of zany characters, fun costume changes, presentations, songs, stories, and more corn metaphors that I could ever keep track of.
I thought Kelly was very fun, quirky, and smart. She surrounds a lot of her silliness with truths about the adaptations she had to make in her life when discovering how difficult it would be to stay corn free. There’s corn in make-up, diapers, and maxi pads? Seriously?! That only begins to scratch the surface. Proud of who she is and her plethora of corn knowledge, Kelly is charming and likeable.
On a Scale of 1 to weird: 8
